Al Muntada Primary Nursery
When will your nursery open?
Our nursery will open Start 3rd October
When can my child start claiming the 3 & 4 year old funding?
3 year olds will be able to start a free nursery place in September, January or April following their third birthday.
Your child’s birthday must be before:
- 31 March will be eligible for free nursery education from Summer Term (April)
- 31 August will be eligible for free nursery education from Autumn Term (September)
- 31 December will be eligible for free nursery education from Spring Term (January)
These are cut off dates. If your child’s birthday is for example on the 1st January and the term starts 5th January, unfortunately their funding will not start until the summer term after Easter because they have passed the cut-off date of 31st December.

There is a£50 non refundable registration fee. Additional cost include uniforms and top up fees if required.
Will it affect my tax credits?
Childcare costs are included in the calculations made by the HMRC to ensure you receive the right amount of credit that you are entitled too. If you already pay for childcare and claim child tax credit to cover the cost, you must notify the HMRC as soon as possible if taking up a free place reduces the cost of your childcare by £10 or more per week. You do not need to notify the HMRC if your cost does not change, for example if you use the free childcare to increase the number of hours your child attends. You will always be better off taking up a free place as tax credits only contribute to a part of full cost of childcare and not all of it.
Have the local authorities increased the entitlement from 15 hours to 30 hours?
The entitlement is currently under review and could increase from 15 hours to 30 hours a week (or 1140 hours a year) for 3 and 4 year old s with working parents. This is yet to be confirmed by our local authorities.
Do all my funded hours have to be with the same provider?
No they do not have to be used by the same provider. You cannot have more than 15 funded hours per week and you do not have to use all 15 hours if you do not want to.
Does my child have to take up an early education place?
It is up to you to decide what kind of early education, if any, is right for your child. By law, children are not required to attend any educational setting until the term after their fifth birthday. The grant is only available until your child starts school.
